Object x object - on a fixed background (4x4): Dress up the monkey

Which item of clothing belongs with which dress-up combination? In this interactive matrix activity for preschoolers, children help a cheerful little monkey dress up in different ways. The task is both challenging and playful: drag the images to the correct place in a double-entry table and combine two different items of clothing each time.

The activity consists of a 4x4 matrix in which two attributes are combined. The rows contain a bow tie, waistcoat, belt and shoes. The columns contain a hat, crown, glasses and earmuffs. Preschoolers need to look carefully at both attributes and decide which cell of the table contains the correctly dressed monkey.

By working with a double-entry table, preschoolers practise important thinking skills. They learn to compare two properties at the same time, organise information, identify relationships and reason logically. Each image can only be placed correctly when both the row attribute and the column attribute are recognised correctly.

This matrix activity also encourages classification and sorting based on objects. For example, children discover that a monkey wearing both a waistcoat and a crown belongs at the intersection of the waistcoat row and the crown column. Step by step, they learn how a matrix is structured and how two separate attributes together form one correct combination.

Language development also has an important place in this free educational app. The activity includes clear spoken support and introduces preschoolers to words and concepts such as bow tie, waistcoat, belt, shoes, hat, crown, glasses and earmuffs. By looking, listening, comparing and acting, children practise the new vocabulary in a meaningful way.

In addition to logical thinking and language, children also practise their visual perception, concentration and working memory. They need to look carefully at which items of clothing the monkey is wearing, find the correct row and column, and remember both attributes at the same time. This makes the activity valuable preparation for more complex sorting tasks and other activities involving tables and matrices.

Thanks to the simple drag-and-drop controls, preschoolers simultaneously practise their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and digital skills. The images can be dragged directly to the correct cell, making the activity highly suitable for tablets, computers, interactive whiteboards and other digital learning environments.

This educational 4x4 matrix is ideal for preschool teachers, support teachers, parents and caregivers who want to work playfully on logical thinking, classification, sorting, double-entry tables, visual discrimination, vocabulary, listening skills, concentration and digital literacy.

Let preschoolers dress the monkey in a different way again and again and discover how much fun it can be to combine two attributes. In this way, children build a strong foundation for logical thinking, organising, language and mathematical skills through play.

In the online logbook, parents and teachers can easily check afterwards which apps were used and what results were achieved.
